Jackie Nelson, MA, Psy.D. Candidate
Professional Highlights. Jackie received her master’s degree in clinical psychology, and is near the completion of her doctorate in clinical psychology, from Antioch University, Seattle. She successfully completed her doctoral internship at Brigham Young University’s Counseling and Psychological Services. She has worked in therapeutic schools supporting children and adolescents, partial hospitalization programs helping adults with acute mental health concerns, and in primary care medical offices supporting the intersection of medical and mental health. In addition, Jackie has experience conducting psychological evaluations.
Specialties. Jackie enjoys working with individuals, couples, and families. She incorporates cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), narrative therapy, solutions-focused therapy, and compassion-focused therapy into her practice. Jackie takes a holistic approach in her treatment of others, accounting for mental, physical, spiritual, and cultural well-being. She is an LGBTQI+ ally who recognizes the complexity of intersecting cultural identities. While she considers herself to be a generalist practitioner, specific areas of focus include: depression, anxiety, post-partum mental health, ADHD, eating disorders/body image concerns, chronic health concerns, grief and loss, personality disorders, gender and/or sexuality concerns, pornography usage, trauma history, family of origin concerns, relationship conflicts, marital and pre-marital concerns, and spiritual concerns. Jackie creates a warm and supportive therapeutic environment and will walk closely with you on your journey towards wellness.
